Completed Project

Old Congress Heights School (Phase 1)

Congress Heights School, located in Southwest Washington, was redeveloped by IDS and CSMI as a 55,000 sq. ft. charter school. This historic building was vacant and underutilized for over 20 years. The $13.5 million redevelopment featured a combination of public and private funding sources including New Market Tax Credits provided by Citibank and HOME and NIF funding from the District.

The design incorporates the historic elements of the building but provides for new interior circulation and all new interior finishes and systems. Renovation of the cafeteria will also provide for a community focused public space.
